Israel Captain Stokes Feud with Ireland Comments

Israel captain Manor Solomon stoked ongoing tensions between the nations after claiming Israel was "10 times better" than Ireland. The comments came after Ireland players and staff protested during their Nations League match by not shaking hands, facing away during Israel's anthem, and refusing to exchange pennants. afrikasportnews.co.za

The protest was reportedly in response to Israeli military actions in Gaza, which have resulted in tens of thousands of casualties. Solomon's blunt remarks reflect the deep political divide between the two nations that spilled over into their sporting encounter.
