Undav, Nagelsmann Continue Verbal Spat

Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann and Stuttgart striker Deniz Undav continue their public disagreement about the player's national team role despite Undav's match-winning goal against Ghana.

Despite scoring the winning goal against Ghana, Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann maintained that Stuttgart striker Deniz Undav is not yet a starter for the national team. The 29-year-old, who came on as a substitute in the second half, was criticized by Nagelsmann for his limited impact before his decisive 88th-minute strike.

Undav acknowledged his current substitute role but suggested it could change with more goals. "I know my role, but my role can change with every goal," the seven-times-capped international said. Nagelsmann countered that Undav's ability to capitalize on tired opponents makes him valuable as a bench option, particularly for the upcoming tournament in the USA where conditions will be challenging.
