Bosnia and Herzegovina eliminated Italy on penalties to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, marking the Azzurri's third consecutive failure to reach the tournament.

Italy missed out on the World Cup for the third straight time as Bosnia and Herzegovina triumphed in a penalty shootout. Despite falling behind early to a Moise Kean goal, Bosnia played the Italians off the park and converted all four penalties to secure a historic victory.

This failure marks a new low for the four-time champions, while Bosnia advances to the 2026 World Cup hosted by the USA, Mexico, and Canada.
