Former NFL CB Alphonso Smith Jr. dies at 40

Former NFL cornerback Alphonso Smith Jr., a 2009 first-round pick, died by suicide at a Florida housing community on Wednesday. The 40-year-old had posted a troubling message on Facebook prior to his passing.

Smith played for the Broncos and Lions from 2009-2012, appearing in 42 regular-season games with 11 starts. He was a consensus All-American at Wake Forest in 2008 and was inducted into the school's Sports Hall of Fame in 2022. ipltable.lol
