The Blue Jays placed two‑time All‑Star catcher Alejandro Kirk on the 10‑day IL with a dislocated and fractured left thumb and recalled Brandon Valenzuela from Triple‑A Buffalo.

The Toronto Blue Jays placed two‑time All‑Star catcher Alejandro Kirk on the 10‑day injured list after a dislocated and fractured left thumb sustained in the 10th inning of a 5‑4 loss to the Chicago White Sox. The team recalled Brandon Valenzuela from Triple‑A Buffalo to fill the vacancy.

Kirk, who batted .282 with 15 homers and 76 RBIs in 130 games last season, was batting .150 with one homer in five games this year. Valenzuela, 25, has yet to debut in the majors but has posted a .200 average with one homer in four games for Buffalo. The Blue Jays also assigned veteran left‑hander Patrick Corbin to Single‑A Dunedin after signing him to a one‑year deal.
