Yamaha responds to Fabio Quartararo’s criticism and attitude
The impending split between Quartararo and Yamaha in MotoGP has arguably never seemed as long and drawn-out as it has since the Aragon weekend. Aside from a notably poor performance by Quartararo, tensions ...Keep reading
England v Ireland: first women’s cricket one-day international – live
Updates from the first ODI, 1pm BST start at Leicester
Interesting! Alice Capsey will keep wicket, which some people (me) were keen to see during the World Cup, given how Amy Jones kept whacking the ball to catchers in the ring. Jones is rested, as are Sciver-Brunt and Danni Wyatt-Hodge, while Heather Knight has retired. Plenty of change, some chances for fringe players. For Ireland, the promising young Alice Tector gets a chance to open the batting. sweetbonan.org

Howie Roseman: Zach Ertz one of the greatest tight ends, but love what we have
Word in early August was that tight end Zach Ertz has been cleared for all football activities after tearing his ACL last December, but the veteran remains a free agent with the start of the regular season a little over a week away.
One possible path back to the field that's been bandied about has been a return to the Eagles. Ertz spent his first eight-plus seasons with the team and helped them win a Super Bowl before moving on to Arizona in a 2021 trade.
The Eagles have Dallas Goedert, Johnny Mundt, E.J. Jenkins, and second-round pick Eli Stowers on the 53-man roster with Grant Calcaterra on injured reserve. On Monday, General Manager Howie Roseman was asked about the possibility of a reunion with Ertz.
"First, I'd say what an unbelievable player, what an unbelievable person, tremendous respect for him," Roseman said, via a transcript from the team. "At the same time, love what we have going in our tight end room, too. I would say, have talked to Zach over a period of time, obviously rehabbing his ACL and the relationship, just like a lot of our former players who've been here. But like anything else, wouldn't get into any conversations about anything other than from a big picture perspective. In my opinion, one of the greatest tight ends to play the game and just tremendous respect for him, and also excited about the tight ends that we have here."
Ertz had 116 catches for 1,158 yards and 11 touchdowns in 30 games for the Commanders the last two seasons, so he remained a productive offensive piece before his injury. If Roseman decides the Eagles are a little short at tight end, he could get a chance to finish out his career where it started.
What was different about Jorge Martin’s struggles in Aragon GP?
The 2024 MotoGP champion never appeared to be a frontrunner at MotorLand, qualifying half a second off pole and finishing well behind the podium runners in fifth.
This was a marked downturn from his outing at Silverstone just three weeks ...Keep reading

Updates from the first ODI, 1pm BST start at Leicester
We’re up in Leicester for today’s game, where so many England women’s ODIs have been hosted over the years. Mild day, 20 degrees, says the weather readout.
