'2-3 hazaar runs': 14-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi sets sky-high IPL 2026 target - WATCH

NEW DELHI: All eyes will be on young batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi as he prepares to take the field in IPL 2026, with expectations of fireworks following his stunning performances in recent months.

His remarkable 175 in the final of the U-19 World Cup 2026, which played a key role in India lifting the title, is still fresh in memory. A lot will be expected from the 14-year-old as he gears up for his maiden IPL appearance.

Rajasthan Royals will begin their campaign against Chennai Super Kings on March 30 at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.

Known for his solid technique, fearless approach and ability to dominate even top-quality bowling attacks, Sooryavanshi has already made a name for himself with the bat. He has shown the ability to accelerate the scoring rate, build strong foundations and clear the ropes with ease.

Now, he seems to be mastering another skill — handling the spotlight off the field.

While he was initially shy in front of the media, Sooryavanshi is now growing more confident and comfortable in such interactions.

Recently, he left everyone amused with his witty response during a Rajasthan Royals event. The youngster, who also became the youngest-ever player to score an IPL century last season, turned a routine question into a light-hearted moment.

When asked about his personal goals for IPL 2026, he responded with humour.

Reporter: What are your plans for IPL 2026? How many runs you want to score, what are your goals?

Sooryavanshi: Aisa question bologe to main do-teen hazaar runs bol doonga (If you ask me such a question, I will say two to three thousand runs), leaving the whole room break in laughter.

Sooryavanshi: Aisa kuch plan nehi kar sakta na ki mujhe itne run banana hae. Jo process hae wo follow kar rahe hae aur team ke liye trophy jeetna hae (I cannot plan that I have to score so many runs. I am following the process and winning trophies for the team).

Baaki personal goals pe aisa kuch focus nehi hae. Bas humlog apne process pe dhyan de rahe hain aur accha karke ko dekh rahe hae is season. (There is no such focus on other personal goals. We are just focusing on our process and looking to perform well this season).

Watch Kevin Durant pass Michael Jordan for fifth all-time on NBA scoring list

Passing Michael Jordan in the record books is the stuff of legends.

Kevin Durant is unquestionably that. With a late-game corner 3 on Saturday night, Durant passed Jordan to move into fifth on the NBA's all-time scoring list with 32,294 points.

" It's cool, butit'ss hard to take in when you're still on the journey, when you just care about getting better," Durant said post game, via the Associated Press. "I don't ever want to downplay stuff like that, but I've got to get up and come to work tomorrow."

Next up on the all-time list is Kobe Bryant, who's fourth with 33,643 points. Durant already passed Wilt Chamberlain and Dirk Nowitzki this season.

Durant was asked post game about his favorite Jordan memory.

"No. That's like asking me do I got a favorite Drake song," he said, via the Associated Press. ."No, they're just all great. MJ has so many great moments. He just personifies iconic god level – just everything that I believe in, he personifies."

Houston beat the Heat 123-122 because, when Durant missed the game-winning shot, Amen Thompson had the tip-in for the win.
