Barcelona eye Tottenham defender Luka Vuskovic

Barcelona are reportedly eyeing Tottenham Hotspur defender Luka Vuskovic as a potential new centre‑half. The 21‑year‑old, who joined Spurs for €12 million last summer, has been a standout in the Bundesliga during his loan at Hamburg.

Vuskovic has won 75 % of his aerial duels and 57 % of his ground duels, and can play on either side of defence. With a strong relationship between Barcelona boss Joan Laporta and his agent Pini Zahavi, the club could pursue him if they miss out on other targets.

Virginia Tech softball: Hokies dominate Boston College in doubleheader

The No. 12 Virginia Tech Hokies softball squad was back in action on Friday, this time on the road against Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. It was yet another perfect day for the Hokies, who swept the Eagles in a doubleheader.

Game 1: Hokies 11, Eagles 0

After a scoreless first inning, Tech jumped on BC for four runs in the top of the second inning. Gaby Mizelle got things started with her fifth home run of the season to make it 1-0. Rachel Castine reached base on a single and was driven home by Addison Foster to make it 2-0. Then, Jordan Lynch blasted a two-run home run and it was suddenly 4-0.

The Hokies were quiet for the next few innings before blowing things wide open in the top of the fifth, scoring seven runs to take an 11-0 lead and earn another run-rule victory. Mizelle would drive in another run, followed by Castine, Emma Mazzarone and Foster, before Lynch hit her second homer of the day to make it 11-0.

Lynch drove in five runs in the Game 1 win. Speaking of Mazzarone, she was excellent again, pitching a complete-game shutout, allowing only two hits, while tying a career-high with 10 strikeouts. Mazzarone earned the win and is now 8-1.

Game 2: Hokies 14, Eagles 4

Tech jumped on the Eagles in the first inning of Game 2, scoring three runs in the top of the first, as Nora Abromavage, Zoe Yaeger, and Gaby Mizelle all drove in runs.

Boston College responded this time around, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first to trim the lead to 3-2. However, the Hokies quickly answered, scoring four more in the top of the second to build a 7-2 lead. Abromavage blasted a three-run home run, her 10th of the season, followed by a Michelle Chatfield solo shot to make it 7-2.

VT scored another run in the third, and the Eagles added two more in the bottom of the third and it was 8-4.

Foster smashed a two-run double in the top of the fifth to increase the lead to 10-4. Tech added two more in the sixth when Michelle Chatfield hit a two-run homer. Castine and Foster each drove in another run to make it 14-4.

Avery Layton got the start for the Hokies, but struggled, allowing four runs, six hits and two walks in two innings before Bree Carrico relieved. Carrico was her usual dominant self, pitching four innings, allowing only two hits and two walks, while striking out 10 to pick up her ninth win (9-0) of the season.

After the two wins, Tech is now 30-4, 6-2 in ACC play, and is on an eight-game winning streak. The Hokies face the Eagles on Sunday to close out the three-game series.

Cole Palmer Mulls Chelsea Exit Amid Discontent

Cole Palmer has reportedly become disillusioned with Chelsea’s new tactics under Liam Rosenior, feeling denied space and missing his partnership with Nicolas Jackson. Persistent groin injuries have seen his form dip this season, prompting speculation that he may exit the club this summer.

Valued at £150 million, Palmer has attracted interest from Manchester United, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. A departure would hurt Chelsea’s chances of Champions League qualification and could signal instability within the squad.
