Trezeguet Scores and Assists as Al Riyadh Draw With Al Shabab

Mahmoud Trezeguet scored his first Al Riyadh goal and assisted as his ten-man side drew 3-3 away to Al Shabab in the Saudi Pro League.

The Egyptian opened the scoring in the 32nd minute at SHG Arena. Leandro Antunes found him on the left side of the penalty area before he beat goalkeeper Mohammed Al-Mahasneh with a left-footed finish. The strike was Trezeguet’s first goal since joining Al Riyadh and his first in Saudi football.

Josh Brownhill equalised for Al Shabab four minutes later. Antunes restored the visitors’ lead in the 41st minute, but Yannick Carrasco made it 2-2 during first-half stoppage time.

Trezeguet made his second direct contribution in the 57th minute. He set up Teddy Okou, who converted to put Al Riyadh ahead for a third time.

However, Kader Keita received a straight red card four minutes later following a VAR review. Al Riyadh played the remaining half-hour with ten men. Carrasco eventually scored his second goal in the 81st minute to rescue a point for Al Shabab. Trezeguet remained on the pitch until the 89th minute before Hassan Al-Ali replaced him.

The hosts controlled 65% of possession and registered 25 attempts compared with Al Riyadh’s 12. Their pressure increased after Keita’s dismissal, but the visitors held on after Carrasco’s equaliser.

Trezeguet had previously registered an assist in Al Riyadh’s 2-0 King’s Cup victory over Al-Zulfi. He has now contributed one goal and two assists across his first four appearances for the club.

The 31-year-old joined Al Riyadh on a two-year contract earlier in August. He arrived as a free agent after ending his Al Ahly contract by mutual agreement.

The winger scored 18 goals across all competitions during his final season with Al Ahly, including 11 in the Egyptian Premier League.
